Public Housing
What is Public Housing?
The Waynesboro Redevelopment and Housing Authority owns and operates 188 units throughout the City of Waynesboro. The rent at these units is based on 30% of a family’s adjusted monthly income. Public Housing units range in size from one to four bedroom units.
Can I Choose Where I Want to Live?
Unit offers are subject to availability. If an applicant refuses a unit offer, the household will lose their preference points for 90 days. After three unit refusals, the application will be closed and the applicant must reapply.

What About Utilities?
All utilities are under WRHA’s name, so you will not be required to pay a utility deposit to move in. Public housing tenants are responsible for paying any utility usage that exceeds the allowance or their apartment size, which is based on reasonable consumption. For Springdale Apartments, all utilities are included regardless of usage.
Moved In? Here’s What to Expect.
Tenants must continue to meet eligibility requirements for continued occupancy in the Public Housing program. This includes following the lease and all program policies, completing the annual reexamination process, and meeting occupancy standards and income limits.
Need a Repair? Here’s What to Do.
If your home requires repairs, our Maintenance team is here to help!
Call the Maintenance Work Order Line at (540) 949-8305 and provide as much detail as possible about the issue and its location. Our team will respond within an appropriate amount of time based on the type of repair that is requested.
Submitting a work order authorizes Maintenance staff to enter your apartment to complete the repair. You do not need to be present during the service visit.
If the repair is caused by something other than normal wear and tear, charges may apply according to the current Schedule of Fees.
Maintenance is available 24 hours a day for emergencies. After office hours, call 540-910-1142 for assistance!
