How Long Will it Take?

Housing programs require time and careful review. We appreciate your patience as we work through applications. Once added to the waiting list, applications are organized by preference points and the date and time submitted.

Preference points are awarded for the following categories:

Substandard Housing

Families who are currently living in substandard housing conditions or who are experiencing homelessness.

Working Family

Families whose head of household, co head, or spouse is employed or receiving Social Security benefits due to an inability to work.

Veterans

Families whose head of household, co head, or spouse served in the active military, naval, or air service and was discharged under conditions other than dishonorable.

Involuntarily Displaced

Families required to move through no fault of their own, including natural disasters, domestic violence, or actions taken by a property owner.

Graduate or Participant of a Job Training Program

Families whose head of household, co head, or spouse has completed or is currently enrolled in a recognized job training program.

Lead Based Paint Poisoning Preference

Families with a household member who is currently undergoing treatment for lead based paint poisoning.

Rent Burden

Families who are paying more than 50 percent of their gross monthly income toward rent and essential utilities.

Waiting list placement is subject to change at any time based on program priorities. Because of this, we are unable to provide your exact position on the list or guarantee a timeline for admission.

While your application is on the waiting list, it is your responsibility to report any changes to your household, income, or contact information within 10 days. Applications are reviewed and updated every 90 days by a Housing Technician.

If we are unable to contact you using the information you provided, your application will be placed in inactive status. When your name reaches the top of the list, a program manager will attempt to contact you. If we cannot reach you at that time, we will move forward with the next applicant.
